The death toll in the bus accident at Birta Deurali of Kavre district has reached 40, the District Police Office, Kavre, said. Most of them had died on the spot. The ill-fated passenger bus with registration number Ba 2 Kha 106 had plunged 500 metres down the road after the driver lost control of it, police said. After receiving reports that some people are unaccounted for, police said, they are searching the incident site. Fifteen of the injured have been sent to Dhulikhel for treatment, while 28 others, including a woman, were airlifted to Kathmandu by a Nepali Army chopper. Among those brought to Kathmandu, 18 people are admitted to the Trauma Centre while 10 others are receiving treatment in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Some of the injured are said to be in very critical condition.
